March 30, 2021 - Razmik Papikyan has officially made the switch to mixed martial arts as confirmed by Lion Heard MMA Manager Artak Vardanyan. He has been training in boxing, jiu jitsu and grappling.
“I’m excited to transition from wrestling to MMA and see what opportunities this brings,” said Papikyan of Yerevan, Armenia.
Papikyan has had a successful wrestling career highlighted by the 2016 Silver Medal in the 46 kg division at the European Under-18 Freestyle Wrestling Championships in Stockhom, Sweden. In 2019-20, he also won the freestyle wrestling championship of the Republic of Armenian in the 61 kg weight category.
“I have dreams of becoming a UFC champion one day,” Papikyan declared.
Papikyan will fight in the flyweight division (125 lb, 57 kg) but the promotion is still unknown.
